Don’t be afraid of you laughing, I think the most difficult thing in winter is not the snow or the wind – it’s the cold that penetrates from the fingertips to the bones. Especially after walking in the snow for a long time, no matter how thick the clothes are, the fingers will become stiff and the whole person will lose their soul. I am the kind of person who can’t sit still. I want to do everything from skiing, camping, and winter mountaineering. Ororo’s heated gloves are a reliable “heating friend” I have made in the cold winter.
Three ways to wear it, more than one solution for winter
When I first saw this pair of Ororo heated gloves, I thought they were just ordinary heated gloves, but I didn’t expect that they can be worn in three ways. This little design really impressed me.
The first is to wear only the inner heated gloves.
Sometimes I am too lazy to turn on the heating, and the thick insulation layer alone will not make my hands cold. And the waterproof layer is really a lifesaver – I don’t have to worry about water seeping into the back of my hands in a cold and wet environment. I wore it in a blizzard in Northeast China before, and my hands were dry and I felt safe.
The second type is to wear only the outer layer.
It looks ordinary and does not generate heat, but the outer shell is really windproof and waterproof at the level of “fighting nation”. I skied on a windy day, and my hands were not penetrated by the wind. It is a tough glove.
The third method is to wear it in two layers + turn on the heating.
On extremely cold days, such as those with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, I turn it to high-end mode and put it on fully armed. I can feel the heat rising in my palms in a few minutes. Sometimes it is so hot that I have to turn it to medium, otherwise it will be too hot. The preheating mode is also very practical. When I just go out and feel a little “shivering”, it will be done in 5 minutes.
Battery life makes me “let go of anxiety”
Ororo’s gloves use rechargeable lithium batteries. To be honest, I’m most afraid of those “cheating gloves” that charge for three hours and heat up for thirty minutes. But this is different. I tested that the high-end can last about three hours, the mid-range is about four to five hours, and the low-end is even longer. I once fished on the ice lake for almost seven hours – my hands didn’t get stiff once.
By the way, I want to remind you that these gloves cannot be machine washed. Really. I almost threw them in the washing machine, but then I found out that the instructions clearly stated that they should be hand washed, so I took them out immediately.
Skiing, cycling and snow camping
I was too lazy to take off my gloves when checking the weather and navigating. Ororo’s touchscreen function is good, and I can use my phone without taking off my gloves, which is very convenient. And its outer layer is GORE-TEX material, so it is basically no problem to withstand wet snow and light rain. The inner layer is 3M Thinsulate insulation material, and after staying in the snow for a few hours, my hands are still warm, as if there is a little sun hidden in them.
Buffalo model: Thick, but also really fragrant
I chose the Buffalo model, which is a high-end model in the Ororo series. It is really thick. When I first wore it, I was a little disgusted, thinking that it was just a “small cotton jacket”. But later I took it for cycling, skiing, and camping, and found that the more extreme the weather, the more “useful” it is.
It uses a B22A lithium battery, and the high-end heating can last for about 3 hours, and the low-end can last up to 8 hours. The preheating function is also my favorite – when I’m shivering with cold, I press the switch and the heat wave immediately rolls up from my palm. The feeling is really hard to describe, like someone quietly handed me a cup of hot chocolate in winter.
But it is a bit thick, especially when you need to pinch something or do some fine movements, your hands feel a bit “sluggish”. Another small detail is that it is an extended design, which sometimes rubs against the sleeves of the jacket, which is a little awkward.
To sum up? Expensive, but worth it
Is it expensive? To be honest, it is quite expensive. But is it worth it? I think it is. Especially for the Buffalo level, it is waterproof, windproof, heated, touch screen, everything is online, and the design is also user-friendly.
If you are like me, the kind of person who is willing to toss around in the winter – skiing, cycling, camping, and even commuting – then this pair of gloves is really worth considering. Winter is too cold, sometimes not only the hands are suffering, but also the heart. But wearing it, even if the whole world is below zero, I can keep a pair of “alive” hands.
